In honor of Red Ribbon Week next week, we have created a game for students in Kindergarten and First Grade (can be modified for older grade levels) to help them understand how their lungs work and how important it is for them to be drug free and not smoke so they can have healthy lungs.
This was no easy task. There are a great number of web sites and resources on the lungs and the respiratory system, PE games teaching Kinder and First Graders about lungs are far and few in between (and now we know why). This game Just Breathe was created by using bits and pieces of health lessons we found on line, as well as, ideas of our own. The bar for writing lessons and PE games has been set very high by Jackie, Tim, and the rest of the talented teachers here in PISD that teach PE so we hope this lessons does not fall short. As you play this game and add variations of your own, please let us know if it works for you. Note: Just Breathe has been added to both the Kindergarten and First Grade resources folder under Health Resources.
